WHO warns ‘world is in very dangerous period’ as delta virus mutates

Tredros Adhanom, the director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), stated on Friday that the delta variation, which was discovered first in India, had already spread to 98 countries.

The delta virus is prevalent in these nations, which is seeing an increase in cases.

Delta plus is a form of delta variant of novel coronavirus. It’s a mutant variant that was named delta by the world health organization (WHO). It belongs to B.1.617.2 strain. This variant was first discovered in India on 22 December 2020.

The transmissibility of this covid form has risen. This variety has a lower antibody response and is more Sevier, aggressive, and spreads more quickly.

The WHO chief added that no country is “out of the woods,” adding that countries with low vaccination rates would be particularly hard hard. He predicted that hospitals will once again be overburdened with patients.

This virus is rapidly mutating, therefore governments should carefully assess and analyse the situation.

He went on to say that there are two approaches to tackle the pandemic and reduce the number of carses.

  • First, if every country’s 70 percent population is vaccinated by next year, the pandemic’s acute phase will be over.
  • Second, rigorous safety measures, such as early case detention, strategic testing, and isolation, should be implemented. Staying indoors, as well as social separation and effective masking, should be primary objectives.

WHO is urging all heads of state to vaccinate at least 10% of their populations in order to safeguard health professionals who are the most vulnerable.

Make sure you’re following all safety precautions and remaining indoors. As the number of patients with the delta plus version of covid increases in India.
